Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit thesecondreadhealth.com (the "Site"), how it is used, and the choices available to you.

The short version

We do not ask you for your name, email address, or any other contact information anywhere on this Site. The interactive tools on our pages — the checklist, the drawer calculator, and the six-question quiz — run entirely in your own browser. The answers you select are never transmitted to us and are never stored on our servers. What we do measure is anonymous usage activity: counts of how many readers reach each section, start or finish the quiz, or click through to the merchant — never the answers themselves.

We do use advertising and analytics cookies, and we earn commissions on purchases. Both are explained below.

1. Who we are

The Second Read is an independent publisher of consumer health commentary and advertising content. We do not manufacture, sell, ship, or handle returns for any product featured on this Site.

When you click a link to a product, you leave this Site and enter a website operated by the merchant or advertiser. Any information you provide there — your name, address, payment details, order history — is collected and controlled by that merchant under their own privacy policy, not ours. We never see your payment information.

2. Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our servers and analytics tools automatically record certain technical information when you visit:

This information is used to understand how the Site performs and how our advertising is working. We do not use it to try to identify you personally.

3. Information you actively provide

None is requested, and none is stored. This Site has no signup form, no newsletter, no account, and no contact form.

The checklist, the drawer calculator, and the quiz are built to run locally in your browser. Your selections shape what you see on the page. They are not sent to us, not saved, and not shared with the advertiser or with anyone else. What is recorded is a content-free event — for example, "a reader completed the quiz" — with a timestamp and nothing attached to it.

4. Cookies and tracking technologies

We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

Advertising and measurement

We may use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel and comparable tools from other advertising platforms. These help us measure whether our ads reach the right people and whether visits lead to purchases, and they may allow those platforms to show you related advertising later. These tools are controlled by the platforms themselves and operate under their own privacy policies.

Affiliate attribution

When you click through to a merchant, a tracking parameter identifies this Site as the source of the visit so that any resulting commission is credited correctly. This may set a cookie on the merchant's website.

Analytics

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the page through aggregated heatmaps, scroll maps, and session replays. The interactive tools on this Site are masked in those replays, so the selections you make in them are not visible. Clarity is operated by Microsoft under its own privacy policy.

Our own server also keeps a minimal, anonymous event log — an event name and a timestamp only, with no IP address and no cookie attached — used to compute aggregate statistics such as how many readers finish the quiz.

Your choices

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking cookies will not prevent you from reading this Site. You can also limit ad personalization directly in your Meta account settings, and opt out of many advertising cookies through industry tools such as the Digital Advertising Alliance's opt-out page.

5. Advertising and affiliate disclosure

The content on this Site is advertising. We receive a commission when a visitor purchases a product through our links, at no additional cost to the purchaser. That commission is how this Site is funded.

This is disclosed at the top of every page and again in the footer of every article, in accordance with U.S. Federal Trade Commission guidance on endorsements and affiliate relationships.

6. How information is used

We do not sell your personal information for money. Note that under some U.S. state privacy laws, the use of advertising cookies to deliver targeted advertising is treated as "sharing" or a "sale" of personal information even when no money changes hands. See Section 8 for your rights, including how to opt out.

7. Sharing with third parties

We may share the automatically collected technical information described in Section 2 with:

We do not share your information with data brokers.

8. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, to request its deletion or correction, to opt out of targeted advertising or the sale or sharing of your personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.

These rights are established under laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, and comparable statutes in Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other states. If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may have additional rights under the GDPR.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@thesecondreadhealth.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. We may need to ask for information to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Because we do not collect names or contact details, the information we hold about any individual visitor is generally limited to the technical data in Section 2.

9. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Browsers vary in how they transmit "Do Not Track" signals and there is no agreed industry standard for responding to them. Where technically feasible, we treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid opt-out request for targeted advertising.

10. Data retention

Server logs and analytics data are retained only as long as needed for the purposes described above, and are then deleted or aggregated so that individual visitors can no longer be identified. Retention periods for advertising platform data are governed by those platforms' own policies.

11. Children's privacy

This Site is intended for adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided information through this Site, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Security

The Site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection and we take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we handle. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. International visitors

This Site is operated for a United States audience. If you access it from outside the United States, be aware that information may be processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate, under laws that may differ from those in your country.

14. Third-party links

This Site links to websites we do not operate, including merchant and checkout pages. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit — particularly before entering payment or shipping information.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The revised version takes effect when posted, and the "Last updated" date at the top will change. Material changes will be reflected prominently on this page.

16. Contact
